The Three Decorations You Need For Christmas

0

Christmas is a holiday that is special for families.  Decorating the house can also be a time to reminisce about the past, or if you’re just starting your family, a time where you really start thinking about what traditions you are going to have that are associated with Christmas.

Traditions are important to cultivate, because they’re going to keep your family close.  When you’re taking out your Christmas decorations, one tradition to start is to have the whole family help you to put them up, decorate the tree, and get the house ready for the beginning of the Christmas season.

It doesn’t matter whether you have a fresh tree or a fake tree; what’s more important about the tree are the ornaments.  If you have kids, you probably have a ton of ornaments that they made for you as Christmas presents at school.  Over time, these ornaments are going to be the ones that you prize the most, because everyone will tell you a story

Another important part of Christmas decorations is the nativity scene.  My family had a Lenox china jewels nativity scene.  It’s a basic white porcelain Nativity scene that looks great with any type of decorations: elegant, classical decorations or colorful, happy decorations that young children love.  Instead of getting a store bought manger to put Mary and Joseph in during Advent, we had a handmade one that was made out of Popsicle sticks that took one year to collect.

The third major thing for Christmas decorations is the stockings.  If you don’t have a fireplace, you can hang them from a door, along the wall or near the tree.  When you’re wrapping your Christmas presents, you can put some of them in the stockings to be discovered on Christmas Day.

Putting up the Christmas decorations together can be turned into a family tradition that is treasured and will be remembered for years to come.  You can do up the whole house, or just have a tree, stockings and a nativity set to give your house a bit of a festive look.

Decorating Tips: Expensive Pieces Should be Classics

0

Have you ever looked at something, and thought that because it was so simple it was perfect?  Most of the time our lives are so complicated, that we like to just be able to stop worrying about matching everything.  Look around your house, what is your decorating style?  If you’re like me, your decorating style changes with the season or what your mood is.  For my furniture, I have a lot of basic pieces that can blend in with a lot of different styles.  I use the walls as my canvas, and it seems like I always have wet paint.

Right now, the walls are a blue that doesn’t always look blue; sometimes it looks green sometimes it looks gray; it just depends on the light.  Because I like to change the way the room looks pretty often, when I buy big purchases, I have to choose neutral pieces that will look good even if I change my style.  I’ve learned that it’s better to buy classic pieces. These are timeless pieces that will always look good, whether my walls are blue, purple, black or pink.

For example, I recently picked up a set of Lenox eternal china, which is classic porcelain china that will go with any design.  Lenox eternal china is basic bone white china, with a golden stripe around it.  What is great about this pattern is that I’ll never get sick of them.  They’re simple, elegant, and I can use them if I’m serving macaroni and cheese or a five course dinner.

Whatever your decorating style is, when you’re making big purchases you should probably think about getting classics.  Classics are items that will look good with whatever you put them with, and are really good investment pieces.

Wanted: A 100 Year Old Plate? Discontinued Lenox China

1

It happens with every china; maybe it’s after one year or maybe a couple of years, but eventually the company decides to discontinue it.  So what do you do?  Do you try to prepare in advance when you find out by buying a lot of extra place settings, or do you just slowly use the china until you only have one or two place settings left?  Don’t worry, there is a better solution.

The better solution is to purchase a well-recognized china.  For example, you can easily find discontinued Lenox china pieces from patterns dating back 30 years ago and more, so finding replacement pieces won’t be a big problem.  Lenox china is a collector’s item for a lot of people, which means that you’re going to be able to eat off of it having as many place settings as you want for a long time.

In fact, what a lot of people do is choose a discontinued Lenox china pattern when they are first buying their china.  They do this, because they can save a bit of money.  By choosing a pattern that’s discontinued, you can often save 20% off of the department store’s regular price.

So how can you find discontinued Lenox china?  Well, there are companies that specialize in selling odd pieces.  If you can’t find the pieces that you need from them, a lot of collectors may be able to help you out, too.  Fine china is really a collector’s item as well as a practical item for your home.

Like I said, every china pattern eventually gets discontinued, but if you really want your china to hold its value even after they stop making it, the best choice is discontinued Lenox China.  You’ll easily get replacements for those dropped pieces, be able to upgrade by buying platters, serving plates and other items even after you can’t buy it at the department store.

Discount Lenox China: An Oxymoron?

0

What are two words that you would expect in a sentence together?  I guarantee you one combination that you probably wouldn’t expect is ‘discount Lenox china’.  It is possible to get a bargain on china, but you have to be smart about it.  Here are some tips to get your discount Lenox china.

Look at untraditional sources.  Sure, you can go into some of the finest department stores and get Lenox china, but if you want a deal, there are alternative source to consider.  One of the best sources for inexpensive Lenox china is eBay.  Online, you can get whole set or just replacement pieces for a fraction of the price.  Usually, it sold by people who got a divorce and can’t bear to look at it anymore, which means that you can get it for really good price.

Another place you might be able to find discount Lenox china is at yard sales.  Usually you will have to get up really early to score a good deal; so on Friday and Saturday night make sure to scour the classified ads to see if any of the yard sales have any for sale and remember to set your alarm clock.

If you’re not married yet, you can always put the Lenox china on your wedding registry when the date gets nearer.  It’s a classic choice, and a lot of people can pitch in to get you place settings or the extras that you need s to make a full set.  A lot of your older wedding guests will like to buy Lenox china, because it is something that they got when they were first married.  When they purchase it, they will remember their lives with their spouses together.  This isn’t really a discount Lenox china tip, but it’s a free china tip.

You may not expect to hear ‘discount Lenox china’ together in one sentence, but it is possible to get the quality of Lenox china at a price that you can afford.  Just think outside of the box, and soon you’ll be eating off of the same type of dishes that presidents and royalty have also dined off of.

Bargain Shopping 101: Outlet Stores

0

I like bargains.  I am the type of person will wake up early just to get a good deal, I’ll clip coupons, or go to a grocery store that is a bit further just to get a bargain.  Maybe you are not like me; maybe you’re happy paying full price just to get what you want and when you want it.

The last time I went to the outlet stores that are pretty close to where I live, I first went to all of the name brand clothing stores.  By the time I was finished scouting these out for bargains, I had so many packages and was about to give up, leaving the shoe and other stores for the next trip.  As I was going back to my car, the Lenox china outlet caught my eye.  I know that a lot of my married friends already had Lenox china that they got from their wedding registries.  I decided to go in, just to have a quick peek.  The Lenox china outlet had a lot of choices, and I was surprised about that.  I was expecting a couple of pieces from their old and discontinued patterns, and was really amazed to find a wide variety.

As a bargain hunter, what I really liked about the Lenox china outlet store is that the prices weren’t Lenox china prices.  When buying things, a bargain hunter usually has to choose between quality and price.  With Lenox china, the price is usually the part that turns people off.  Buying at a Lenox china outlet store is definitely the bargain shopper’s compromise.

Now, I’ll be honest, I didn’t buy much at the Lenox china outlet store.  I could’ve definitely bought a whole new set of China on the spot, but I had a little self-restraint and just picked up a platter that I’ll use the next time that I have a dinner party with all my friends.  At that dinner party, I’ll probably be wearing some new outfit that I picked up at the outlet stores as well.

Comfort Foods Can Look Better

0

Wintertime is the time of year where you want to snuggle up close to the fire, spend lots of time indoors, and eat foods that are considered comfort foods, like macaroni and cheese, hot apple pie, hot chocolate and mashed potatoes with gravy.  You may think that eating your meal off of any dinnerware is okay, but a lot of people really like the Lenox winter greeting china during this time of year to dress up their table.

There are two different types of Lenox china: the fine china and the everyday china.  The Lenox winter greeting china is in the everyday china category, which means that you can start to use some of the patterns starting in autumn, and continue to use them until spring comes around.  If you’re worried about changing your dinnerware with the seasons, you can be rest assured that some of the Lenox Winter greeting China is versatile enough so that you can use a year-round.

So what are the advantages of having Lenox china?  What people like about it is that it popular.  Suppose your son is helping you to put away the dishes and drops four of the bowls.  If you have regular china, you might be out of luck if you bought it a couple years ago.  If you have Lenox china, there’s a really good chance that your can be able find the right pieces, even if you bought it 30 or 40 years ago.  People collect this stuff, which means you’re going to be able to find it even if an accident occurs.  Another advantage of Lenox Winter greeting china is that the quality is phenomenal.  If a company has been around as long as Lenox has, you know that it’s because they give their customers the best service and products that are possible.  Lennox provides you with a high quality product.

When you’re going to get your next set of China, the Lenox Winter greeting china will add a whimsical touch to your everyday meal.  The next fattening and comfortable meal you have on a cold winter’s night will look even better on this everyday china.

The Diamond of Dishware: Lenox Fine China

0

Which is more valuable: a diamond or a cubic zirconium?  Of course the answer is a diamond, because it is rare, valuable and sought after.  When looking at what dinnerware to put on your registry when you get married, you’re faced with the same type of question.  Do you go for price or do you go for quality?  Lenox fine china is the quality option; it’s the diamond among all the other cubic zirconium that are out there.

Many fine chinas will last a lifetime.  China is a dinnerware that will impress your friends when you bring it out for your first dinner party as a couple.  It is a dinnerware that you will be able to use for your lifetime, and even be able to pass it on to your children for their lifetime.  If you get this dinnerware, it will make a statement about who you are.

Let’s back up a bit, you’re still deciding whether it’s worth it to register for the Lenox fine china, or whether you should choose a different brand.  The problem with other chinas is that they tend to be very trendy.  They’ll look good now, and maybe you’ll even get them to match the same color as your dining room walls, but 10 years from now, they’re going to look dated.  Lenox fine china is classic.  A hundred years ago, it looked great, and in a hundred years, that same pattern is going to look wonderful.

Some things aren’t worth the extra money, but Lenox fine china is something that you’ll enjoy using.  Every time you bring them out for a family dinner, or even just an ordinary night you’re going to remember your wedding and all of the family memories that surround these dishes.

Three Things to Make the Holidays Complete

0

Every year it’s a tradition; the Saturday after Thanksgiving, the whole family gets together and starts pulling out the Christmas gear from the attic.  We don’t put up the tree until later in December, but the decorations get put out pretty early.  We haul boxes and boxes up from the basement, but one box never gets sent down to the basement, because it’s just too valuable; that box has the Lenox Christmas china in it.

Some people may think that having special Lenox Christmas china is absurd.  You eat off of regular plates 11 months of the year, why do you need special dinnerware for the holidays?  How is eating off of special plates going to make a memory for years to come?

It’s simple; Lenox Christmas china can help to bring your whole holiday together.  There are three things you need to have a good holiday:  a Christmas tree, your family coming home from wherever they live, and a good meal.

The Christmas tree is easy; it doesn’t matter if you have a fake or real Christmas tree, what’s important is that you decorate it with ornaments that you’ve collected (and treasured) all of these years.  A good meal is a bit more difficult, but still possible.  Every family has certain recipes that seem to be served at every family function (my family is famous for an easy rice casserole that you can make in the microwave, but no one would ever guess that you did).  Any meal on Christmas is going to be an excellent meal, but if you are eating it off of your Lenox Christmas china it’s going to taste even more special.  The third thing you need for Christmas is to have everybody come home.  This is the most difficult to achieve, because everyone is so busy.  If you can achieve all three of these things, this is going to be one of the rare Christmases that you remember for a long time.

Holiday Memories that Last a Lifetime

0

What’s your special holiday memory?  When I was younger, it was the huge Christmas party at my grandmother’s house.  Every Christmas Eve we would go over to her house, eat a big fancy dinner, and open the presents that were under the tree.  My favorite part about the holidays was the special food and the presents.  Each family would bring a special dish to the Christmas Eve dinner, with my grandma cooking a big turkey with real stuffing.  Dinner was served on the Lenox holiday china, and even in the middle of summer, I can remember exactly what those dishes looked like:  they weren’t white, but you wouldn’t call them beige either.  Around the plates and the bowls of the Lenox holiday china were classic silver stripes that came together to show a silver bow along the edge of the plate.  The silver stripe would show your reflection in it when you held it up to the light.  This Lenox holiday china was actually a wedding present that my grandparents got when they were married over 50 years ago.

It’s kind of funny, what you can remember about your holiday memories.  It seems like little details get etched into your mind, for example remembering about how my grandmother only brought the Lenox holiday china out for two holidays a year: Thanksgiving and Christmas. To me, my grandmother’s china was better than any of the more festive Lenox holiday china patterns that were filled with bright colors.  Every year before starting to eat, I picked up the plate, and in it I could see my reflection, which was always flush with an excitement for the upcoming presents.

It’s strange, how even 20 years have passed since that last Christmas party, I can still remember exactly all the small details, down to the Lenox holiday china, the presents and the rest of that wonderful Christmas Eve.
